I’ve heard on commercials for credit score companies, that you should check your score if you’re looking for another job. Does anyone know of a company that would base your employment on a credit score? and can they check without your permission?

How much importance does a possible employer place on a good credit score? What if a person is definitely qualified for the position, has a great personality and is exactly what they are looking for, background check is clear, but they have bad credit?
Marianne: Duh. thanks for nothing

What shows up on credit check for an apartment? Are they just looking for evictions and not paying for previous apartment rentals? My friend is worried about an unpaid bill for a gym membership and unpaid bill for a cell phone from years ago showing up on the credit report. He also thinks his late payments (about a week late) for a car a few years ago may affect his chances of renting a place. Will these thinks have any affect?

I own my house and I’m considering getting a roommate, however I want to be able to check on the potential roommates credit worthiness, what is the best way to go about doing this?

If so, why would they do this? What if your credit didn’t pass? Or if it was good enough to join but not good enough for your selected rating?

Also: Where have you worked at and did they check your credit?

If they checked your credit and you’re in the Chexsystem- did you get fired?

10points thank you.

is it like a credit card or more on the your light bill and things like that?

I don’t know exactly what kind of information you have to give out in order to check your credit score, but something about those “services” just seems about as legit as an old man in a van offering free candy to children.

Is it a business tactic? In the fact that they force you to pay for checking your credit score before you apply, so you know what it is and can decide before hand if you qualify for a loan or credit card. That’s my assumption. It seems very detrimental in my opinion, in the sense you can’t give apply for credit a shot without it really screwing you over.
