Need help in getting a phone plan and about credit check?
I’m trying to get a phone from AT&T. But they need a credit check. I don’t have a credit card.
Will they accept prepaid cards like Target or Macys?
Will they accept a debit card or savings account for a credit check?
Would having my checking count with -$100 affect the chance of me getting a phone?
If possible, I really would like answers for each question so I can have a choice or idea. Thanks!
1) No
2) No
3) No, but the checking account with -$100, the bank might charge you $5 over draft/withdraw
Consider pay-as-you-go, which mean you prepaid for the minutes, say ($100 for the x minutes) when you talk that how much you use up until it ran out, once it does you have to prepaid it again. Could be expensive if you talk a lot cause in Canada pay-as-you-go is .25/min., out text (0.15) and income text is free. Google SpeakOut to see what I mean and then find similar deal in your area
It is different from a monthly plan where you have, for example, 150min/month of talk time, once you go over it and anything over 150 min you get charge by the minute (could be 0.35/min). If you don’t use up all 150min it might move to the next month. You will be billed monthly of course.
You can apply for Walmart MasterCard credit card to build your credit history, interest is high 19.99%, just make sure you paid on time.
No to all your question.
Since you have no credit score, they will pdobably ask you to make a huge deposit.
