Credit Report Archives

I’ve read that disputing anything that is bad on ones credit report, even if it is accurate, will most likely be removed. Is this true? How does disputing work?

I plan on moving to an apartment in Florida in about 6 months. I recently entered a Credit Counselling program which shows as “Paying by 3rd party” on my credit report for all accounts invovled in the CCCS. My car, cell phone and one credit card are not in the program. ALL accounts are all paid timely. When I rented previously I was never late. Will I have a problem renting an apartment?

I have 2 judgements on my credit report that aren’t true. I am trying to clean up my credit without paying someone $700.00. Please help if you know anything about getting inquiries and other old accounts, and accounts that doesn’t belong to me.

I applied for a credit card a while back, and I was declined. This was rather surprising to me, because I’ve got good credit. Anyway, I got an email from the cc company today stating the reason for my rejection:
” The amount of your purchase required a credit bureau report. We were unable to retrieve a report from a consumer reporting agency.”

Now, what? I retrieved my credit score just the other day and it was in the low 700s–so I know that I’ve *got* a credit score. I applied and got approved for a different credit card just a few weeks before I applied for this one, however–could that have been what went wrong? In any case, should I be worried that they couldn’t retrieve my credit report? That just seems awfully strange, and I’m not sure if I need to talk to someone at a credit bureau, or something. . .any help/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Hi experts.

Unfortunately I just found out that I had a very small obscure student loan that went into repayment last month and I missed the bill. I switched addresses and somehow forgot to have them forward that loan to my new address :( So I checked my credit report and it’s there reported as an adverse account and it says TransUnion says it will not be taken off until 06/2014.

However it seems like I’ve heard of other people getting these things removed from their report after they pay the amount overdue. Is this something I’m just imagining or can I really pay the amount due and then have the error removed from my credit report?

Thanks so much for your help

I have an account that is being reported on my credit report three different times and by three different companies; however, it is the same account. How can I reconcile this?

I cosigned a credit card loan for my brother. He racked up thousands and stopped paying over a year ago. The debt is already charged off. He is working with a credit counselor to resolve the debt but its going to be awhile. I’m wondering if maybe a “consumer statement” will help. There is nothing that indicates that it isn’t actually my account. Any advice on wording a credit report consumer statement?

I have a collection item on my credit report for $245, I have paid it already. How can I remove it from my credit report? Is it better to talk to the collection agency to remove it or directly to the credit bureau? Tnx!

My daughter’s social security number may be attached to a family member’s business and I would like to check. I tried to run a credit report under her information, but her year of date is not available in the drop down since she is not even a teenager. How can I get a credit report for her?

I have a collection on my credit report from the old AT&T, when they had wireless products (cell phone.) I paid my account in full, but when I went to check my credit report it says that I owe them $5.00 and they put me in collections. Now when I called the collection department to dispute it, the collection department no longer exists because AT&T wireless no longer exists!! Any suggestion on what I should do? I’ve already tried to correct the error with the credit reporting agencies, but they need proof that my account was paid in full. HELP!
