Can potential employers check your credit score without asking?
I’ve heard on commercials for credit score companies, that you should check your score if you’re looking for another job. Does anyone know of a company that would base your employment on a credit score? and can they check without your permission?
Any company can do it, it is totally legal. Example you try to find a job in the financial sector example Edward Jones, Allstate etc etc if you have bad credit it will drastically reduce the opportunity for employment.
many employers will use your credit score as part of their decision making process. they need your permission and SSN.
Employees that will have access to cash will amost always have to provide credit score to a new employer.
Many employers are now reviewing credit reports before hiring someone. But since it costs money to pull credit reports, they typically only do so for people they want to hire. They review the whole credit report, not just your score. The credit report gives some insight as to how you manage finances and deal with responsibility.
In some cases, your credit score has to be at a certain minimum to qualify for professional licenses, certifications, bonding, and similar work requirements.
The employer would need your signed release to pull your credit.
potential employers who check your credit CANNOT base their decision on just credit history alone; this would B illegal b/c if they did, then many ppl would never B hired. if not hired, ppl would NOT B able 2 earn funds 2 pay off debts. credit history MUST by LAW B taken ONLY in2 consideration, & NOT B based on credit alone.
